We need your help!

We are running a campaign called ‘The Power of Specialist FE’.

We want to make sure everyone knows why specialist colleges like yours are so important.

From Monday 1st to Friday 5th December 2025, colleges across the country will celebrate specialist further education.

How you can join in

1.

Share your story on social media

You can tell people why your college is great!

You could:

  • Take a photo or video of you learning or having fun.
  • Say a few words about:
    • Why you like your college
    • What you have learned
    • How college is helping prepare you for your next steps in life.

Ask a member of staff to help you post your photo, video or words on your college social media accounts.

Use our social media resources to make your post look good.

You can use these hashtags:

  • #ThePowerofSpecialistFE
  • #SpecialistFEWorksForMe (if you go to college now)
  • #SpecialistFEWorkedForMe (if you have now left college)

2.

2. Talk to visitors

Some colleges will have special visitors like MPs (people who make decisions for the country).

You can:

  • Join in fun activities
  • Show the visitors around
  • Tell the visitors what you like about college
  • Tell them what difference college has made for you
  • Smile for a photo (if you want to).

This helps visitors see how your college helps you learn.

3.

3. Celebrate with everyone

You can:

  • Join college events
  • Like your college’s posts online
  • Tell your family and friends about the campaign – they can join in too!

Remember!

  • This campaign is about you and your education. We want to help you be involved.
  • If you’re unsure about anything, you can always ask a member of staff.

Further education providers are participating in a national awareness campaign this week, The Power of Specialist FE, which aims to highlight the vital provision being offered to learners with more complex needs across the country.

Preferred questions:

  • What steps is the Government taking to ensure specialist further education is recognised as an essential part of the education and skills system?
  • How does the Government intend to support and resource collaboration between specialist and general FE colleges to strengthen inclusion across the sector?
  • Will the Government commit to giving access to capital funding to specialist colleges, which are currently excluded from the FE capital transformation fund?
  • What plans are in place to give equal access to transport support for 16 – 19 year olds with SEND so that travel is not a barrier to participation in further education?
  • What plans does the Government have to expand existing post-16 outcomes measures so they more meaningfully reflect the broad range of achievements of learners with SEND, including those with more complex needs?
